Safety + Reporting
1) Use the in-app report tools
If someone violates the rules, use the in-app Report button as soon as possible. Reports help us connect the complaint to the relevant session, technical identifiers, and moderation evidence.
2) Report child sexual exploitation
If the incident may involve a child, grooming, enticement, child sexual abuse material, trafficking, or similar exploitation, you can also make a report to NCMEC’s CyberTipline: missingkids.org/gethelpnow/cybertipline.
3) What we keep and for how long
Our default retention settings are:
- Chat logs: deleted after 30 days.
- Video safety screenshots and screenshot records: deleted after 90 days.
- User reports: deleted after 365 days, unless a report is on legal hold or has a longer preservation date.
- Moderation queue records: deleted after 180 days.
- Risk review queue records: deleted after 180 days.
- Non-permanent IP and device ban history: deleted 365 days after the ban expires. Permanent bans are not removed by this standard cleanup.
- IP and device profile records: deleted 180 days after the last-seen date.
The retention worker runs regularly and removes eligible records in batches, so deletion may not happen at the exact moment a retention period ends.
4) What we may preserve longer
When a serious safety incident is reported or apparent, we may preserve relevant chats, uploads, screenshots, reports, session identifiers, device/network metadata, and related technical records for safety review, abuse investigations, legal process, and compliance. Records may also be preserved longer when needed for child safety, threats, exploitation, fraud, legal process, legal holds, emergency requests, or other safety-critical review.
5) What we may disclose
We may disclose information as required or permitted by law, including to NCMEC, law enforcement, and in response to valid legal process or emergency requests.
6) Legal and safety contact
Legal, law-enforcement, or safety requests: contact@omegleweb.com
